Good afternoon. This is Will Hosaflook, Superintendent of Jackson County Schools. On Tuesday, December 19, our internet service provider WVNET will be completing network maintenance on their server systems. It is very likely all governmental agencies and schools in West Virginia will not have internet access. However, all school phone systems should work if you need to contact the school. School personnel are aware of the internet outage and have adjusted their plans accordingly. Tuesday will be our last full day of school before Christmas break, while on Wednesday, December 20, students will be dismissed 3 hours early. Please have a wonderful Holiday Season.

Ripley Elementary School parents and guardians, earlier this week information was sent home for all 3rd-5th grade students regarding the Science Fair. If your child plans to have a project at the science fair, acknowledgement forms are due Monday November 13th. If you need a new form, please reach out to your teacher. Have a great weekend!

Ripley Elementary School parents and guardians, on Saturday November 4th from 8AM-12PM we will be adding mulch to our 1st and 2nd grade playground and we need some help! If you can help us move mulch we would greatly appreciate it. Please bring a pitch fork, rake, or wheelbarrow if you can. Thank you!!!

These emails will include instructions and codes to allow you to review your child’s video report and other information from the tests. Please review the results with your child. Good evening. This is Will Hosaflook, Superintendent of Jackson County Schools. Wednesday brings much anticipation with the start of a new school year. I am so excited to see our students and employees back in our buildings as we continue to work together to become the #1 school district in our state. We begin this school by sharing wonderful news – Jackson County Schools is now the 5th-ranked school district in WV in ELA and Math proficiency, moving up five spots from last year. We are so fortunate to have a fantastic community of parents and guardians that understand the importance of a first-class education and are willing to go above and beyond to ensure the success of our students and schools. As I just mentioned, our goal is to be # 1. Leading the state will not come easy. It will take hard work, determination, and perseverance from our children and the entire community to demand high expectations and excellence in our schools. I believe in the power of public education, as well as our parents, our employees, and especially our communities. Anything is possible; we must be willing to do whatever it takes to accomplish our goal. As always, I ask for your patience on the first day of school. There are many moving parts that we will continually perfect throughout the year. Once again, thank you for your support and encouragement as we start another exciting school year. Ripley Elementary will be having a Field Day on May 19, 2023. Please make sure to apply sunscreen prior to sending your child to school. There are water games planned for the children so they may need a change of clothes.

Good evening. This is a reminder to all families that on Friday, April 21, 2023, Jackson County Schools will have a three-hour early dismissal for all students. If your child rides a bus, the bus will arrive at the drop-off location three hours before the normal drop-off time. Thank you to Mr. Jimmy Templin and Mrs. Karen Kish for organizing a fantastic STEM night for Jackson County Elementary students last evening. Also, THANK YOU to all companies and individuals giving their time to help our students understand the world of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts/Agriculture, and Mathematics. Together, we served over 160 students with an evening filled with excitement, engagement, and hope for our youngest learners to explore and grow through STEM education. Once again, thank you to all involved for making STEM night a huge success!

Good evening. This is the last reminder regarding our annual Jackson County STEM night event on Thursday, March 23, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Ripley Elementary School. STEM night is open to all Jackson County School system elementary-age students. We are asking parents to accompany their children during the event. Many of our "exhibitors" will be local companies and community members who will share their knowledge and passion for science, technology, engineering, and math - including representatives from Dow Chemical, Roane Jackson Technical Center, Robotics Teams from both high schools, Constellium, STAR Plastics, WVU Extension Agents, Project Lead the Way, and many others.
